Hazardous Tree Evaluation
Hazardous trees can present a serious risk to people and property in the surrounding area, especially in the urban areas of our communities. Both you and your neighbors might be at risk. While the identification of hazardous trees should be done by experienced arborists, there are several indicators you may want to examine on trees around your property. These include:
- Cracks or splits in the tree trunk
- Trees with very large crowns
- Dead or hanging branches
- Trees which are leaning
- Co-dominate stems (trunks) - those which have a V shape appearance
- Mushrooms, conks, excessive sap flow, nesting holes, bee hives, borers, and insect damage are common indicators that problems may be present beneath the surface also increasing failure potential throughout the canopy.
If any of these symptoms are present in a tree you should have ArborCare perform a detailed risk assessment to determine the appropriate steps to take to mitigate the hazard.
